When I started wearing wigs my hair had started thinning out on top in the front but I have Hashimotos which is a thyroid condition that causes you to lose hair. I have hair but lose alot in the shower. Here some pictures of my bio hair. I got a really bad haircut too. I love wearing wigs. They have built my confidence & I can wear any color & style I want.

I had around 18” cut off early 2026 to make it easier to wear wigs. It’s very thin and I’ve lost a lot on the sides and front middle. I have Lupus, and as a bonus frontal fibrosing alopecia. I’m 49 in January so perimenopause isn’t helping either. I think I covered most of my colors below.

Menopause, Hashimoto’s, and weight loss meds have wreaked havoc on my hair quality, density, and growth (or lack thereof). The photo in the red shirt is at the start of my more noticeable hair loss covered up with some root powder, and it’s much more significant now, although I don’t have a recent photo. The photo with the long wig is Simmer Elite shortly after discovering the amazing world of wigs, and it was one of the first longer wigs I had purchased. Like many others, I worried that I was too old to wear a longer (for me) wig. Now, I go with how I feel that day! Some days I feel like long hair; other days, it might be a short bob. Either way, I feel beautiful and love the wig sisters who have wrapped their arms around so many of us in this fantastic community.

Out in nature this summer, no makeup, remaining wisps of hair scraped back, just living in my own skin. 🥰 After growing up with long, thick hair, I'd been dealing with increasing hair loss for several decades due to menopause and hypothyroidism. I started losing my hair after I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular autoimmune disease. Throw a sprinkle of menopause into the mix and poof…the perfect mixture for hair loss. I still have bio hair but it’s no longer thick. I’ve lost the majority of my hair at the temples, down the middle of my head, but primarily at the back. I started wearing wigs because I could no longer style my hair. It looked horrible every time I left the house and holding the styling tools above my shoulders became too painful. Wearing alternative hair is the only thing that I felt I could have some control over and that was the first step in making me feel like me again.
